I can recommend the following networks as reliable ways to generate income from your website or blog, each has their own application process and some are harder to get into than others.

Burstmedia is a strong network with major advertisers, you can increase your income significantly if you convince 200 of your visitors per year to sign up to their online surveys.  My own experience if of a very good Ecpm but a low fill rate.  Burstmedia is therefore great as part of a chain of advertiser potentially as the first one - but due to the low fill rate you need to run in conjunction with other networks.

Chitika is a very useful additional source of income for your network, Chitika can be used at the same time as Google Adsense and in conjunction with banner advertisers.  It doesn’t seem to impact significantly on other income sources, probably because of its different design and the nature of the adverts that run through it.  Its great for boosting income.

Kontera are an in-text advertiser, they insert java based links into the text displayed to browsers, its another good complimentary source of income as like Chitika it doesn’t significantly affect income from other networks such as Google Adsense
